* Warhammer 40,000 Campaign Round 4

Hope you all had a Merry Christmas! Anyway, this will be my last post of 2006, and what better way to end the year than with the results from Round 4 of the Warhammer 40,000 campaign! Here’s the latest from Mike:
“The factions all sped to the hidden laboratories spaced out around the city. They finally find the prize they were all fighting for.
The first laboratory was reached by the Blood Angels 3rd Company whose tech priest had accurately found the labs and immediately began to search them for any useful information. The first they knew of trouble was when the Vindicator exploded from a lascannon shot across the battlefield. Librarian Caine – in charge of the mission – called for support from the company Thunderhawks before mounting the Land Raider with his Terminator bodyguards. World Eater forces swept across the city determined in capturing the lab. A mighty Bloodthrister leading the Berserkers in the charge, the forces crashed into each other. Death Company and Caine’s Terminator bodyguard sowed death and destruction down one flank, while the Daemon Prince Drakoth Khorne killed everything in his path on the other flank. The tech priest completed the download and Caine decided to withdraw to save resources, leaving the lab in Chaos hands.
The second lab was contested by Eldar and Demon Hunters. Having so many Grey Knights injured and killed in the first battles, Inquisitor Merchant himself led his storm troopers into battle against the Eldar forces led by Maugen Ra. The storm troopers quickly took the lab while two mighty Dreadnoughts and a blessed Land Raider Crusader stalled the Eldar. Unable to deal with the machines of the Imperium and suffering heavy losses, the Eldar retreated leaving the lab in the Inquisitor’s hands.
The final lab was fought over between Hive Fleet Annihilus and Greaser’s Ork Clan. Greaser had a cunning plan: launch a wave of fighter bombers overhead and a wave of flamer trucks on the ground. The Hive Fleet, having sent quicker moving troops, were either bombed from above or burned from the trucks. Most of the trucks were destroyed but the Hive Fleet was wiped out by the rest of the Boyz, and they quickly looted the lab.
The Tau forces managed to steal the plans after the Orks left and now all the races are either getting the plans back to base so they can be decoded, or are planning to steal the necessary data from the other races.”
Oops! The Orks’ first victory and it just happens to come against me… ah well, better luck next time. Speaking of next time, here’s the fixtures:
Round 5 – Kill Team
Game 1 – Eldar vs. Chaos
Game 2 – Tyranids vs. Tau
Game 3 – Orks vs. Blood Angels
Bye – Grey Knights
Oh, and here’s a little something on the horizon for the new year… can you say Gauss?

Nothing less than a 3+ save, all Gauss weapons are effectively ranged Rending weapons, Warscythes cut through Invulnerable Saves… yep, they’re cheesy alright. In fact, there was a distinct smell of Brie as I opened the Battleforce box…

Anytime you want to take on the forces of the Imperium you are more than welcome to try. In my only games against them Death Company went through an entire Warrior and Pariah squad without taking a casulty. More walking tin cans.
